In the early part of his career, New Haven electrical engineer Franklin M. Doolittle manufactured various radio components including:

  • Type 100 Panel Type Receiving Set

  • Type 102 Variable Condenser

  • Type 105 Crystal Detector Stand

  • Type 107R Decremeter

  • Type 109 Duplex Gap manufactured in 1921

  • radio tuner manufactured in 1922

The Audimax was a loudspeaker. It first advertised in 1922, though it appears to be an updated model of Doolittle's earlier Amplifone. The dimensions of this model were 11 x 16 x 9 inches. The case was a polished mahogany cabinet.

Doolittle's manufacturing operations gave way to the ownership of Connecticut's oldest radio station, WDRC in Hartford. It took to the air on December 10, 1922 as WPAJ in New Haven.
