As
the youthful face above indicates, Boss Jock
Mark Driscoll
was only 18 years old when he started at WPOP
but he brought with him a lot of experience.
He had already worked as a deejay at stations
in Utah, California and Kansas.
Mark
started as a weekend warrior, replacing Navy-bound
Frank Holler
on Saturday and Sunday nights.
With
the departure of Steve
O'Brien Mark quickly found himself hosting
the weekday night shift until Jackson
Armstrong stormed into Hartford.

Uncle
Sam came calling again in August and soon Mark
was being fitted with his own government-issue
sailor suit. Weekends were inherited by the
newest in a never-ending line of Boss Jocks,
Bobby Branigan.
Sadly,
Mark died in West Palm Beach on August 22, 2022;
he was 72.
