Roger
E. Peichert, 87, of Pooler, GA formerly of Windsor, CT, passed away
at home on April 8, 2019. He was born in Hartford, CT on September
18, 1931, son of the late Otto Peichert and Esther (Kallstrom) Peichert.
Roger was the second to the youngest of nine children in the Peichert
family.
Growing
up on the family farm in Windsor, Roger learned the value of hard
work at an early age and routinely helped his family raise and harvest
vegetables.
After
graduating from Windsor High School, Roger honorably served in the
United States Air Force during the Korean Era. During his military
service Roger continued his education in accounting and mathematics.
In
the late 90s Roger retired from WDRC Radio Station in Hartford
after a long and successful career as the station accountant.
Roger
enjoyed traveling to new places and took two memorable trips with
his cousin Charlotte, first to Europe and later to the Near East
where he visited the Holy Lands. In recent years, Roger relocated
to Georgia to be near his nephew, Roger. He was a kind and generous
friend, devoted brother, and loving uncle.
Roger
is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families as
well as three sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by eight siblings:
Richard, Ernest, Warren, Allen, Donald, Rena, Eugene, and Harold
Peichert.
His
funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, with
family gathering at 2:30 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 pm
at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial and
military honors will immediately follow his service in Riverside
Cemetery, Windsor.
